| Opening ceremony of the photo exhibition «Creating the Contexts» at UMD |

This exhibition is dedicated to workshop that took place in 2011. This workshop was led by a well known Dutch performance artist, sociologist, and photographer Lino Helling at ArtEast Studio in Bishkek, 2011. This workshop was a collaborative project with P.A.P.A. (Participating Artists Press Agency) and ArtEast School of Contemporary Art was the logical continuation of previous projects of Lino Helling in Lagos, Nigeria; Sao Paolo, Brazil; Dhaka, Bangladesh; and Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The exhibition features 20 pictures, which express the conceptual ideas of photographers. The exhibition presents series of photographs united by four patterns, defined during the discussions with participants, and reflects social, political, economical, and cultural features of contemporary Kyrgyzstan.

UMD students were willing to help the kids from the orphanage “ Orlovka”. During one month our students were actively gathering clothes, toys, and some provision. Due to sincere desire their first experience worked well. They are set to participate in such events. |

New Year's masquerade at the University of Management and Design The University of Management and Design held an outstanding masquerade night on 23rd of December. Students prepared a wonderful New Year show, with traditional New Year characters. There were a lot of funny competitions and, of cause, presents. By the end of the show the students had a stand-up meal and launched sky lanterns. There is no doubt, that we had a wonderful New Year celebration, at UMD.

The University of Management and Design hold an outstanding solo performance “Why no steps are left?...” on 16th of December.
The director’s idea is to describe three characters from different stories: the story of Jamilya and Altynai from “The First teacher” and Tolgonai from “The Mother’s field”. These characters are incredibly interesting; beside this, they conceal culture and ethics of kyrgyz women. Three images, three characters, three heroes of this play, is a life line of a woman ...

On Thursday November 24, 2011 the University of Management and Design celebrated Thanksgiving Day. Dr. Ton van Egmond an expert from the Netherlands and Dr. Khalet Hassouna who is a project supervisor from Virginia Tech joined us to this event. Students from Business, Travel & Tourism and Art & Design departments laid their tables with varieties of food. Art & Design and Travel & Tourism department got a prize as the best team, for laying the table.

On November 23, 2011 students from UMD have visited the plant tour of the company Coca-Cola Bottlers. Our freshmen students from the Business program have been introduced to the Coca-Cola Company. Also, they had the chance to see the production of the drink. At the end of the tour the Coca-Cola Company gave a present to each student.

On Tuesday, November 22, 2011 the University of Management and Design has organized the conference. This conference was supported by the department of Travel and Tourism. Our guest speaker Dr. Ton van Egmond is an expert from the Netherlands, who supported the department of Travel and Tourism to organize the conference.

The University of Management and Design has held an exceptionally exciting exhibition of the young but promising artist Rasul Kochkorbaev. The collection of paintings “Under the Bright Sun” is the first display of his deeply philosophical artistic ideas. The bright and very meaningful works of Rasul collected a large number of visitors including representatives of different international organizations.The University of Management and Design was honored to have the Ambassador of the US Pamela L. Spratlen as one of the most special guests.
