Plato University of Management and Design has launched a modern computerized system for managing courses and facilitating future e-learning capabilities. This electronic course management system, Moodle, will offer students unique study opportunities enabling them to access syllabi, course readers, tests, timetables, evaluation records and other essential information through individual on-line accounts.
This semester a pilot group comprising of Plato UMD professors and students undergo training and consultation, and to offer feed-back.
Robert Anderson, expert on distance learning at Plato UMD, believes that e-learning enables the teachers to organize their courses better and for students to enhance their time management skills. He adds that e-learning fosters independent student study and research.
“The electronic course management system that Plato UMD introduced today will be the foundation for developing e-learning opportunities to our current students and to offer on-line courses for distance learning for students from all over the world,” remarked Nigel Browne, Director of Academic Affairs.
“It’s a very convenient system as I can access course materials, readers and other resources from any place and at almost any time,” remarked an Plato UMD student.
Currently Plato UMD offers one pilot course on-line – “Effective Communications Techniques”, and soon will organize a series of courses and training offered online.
