Plato UMD’s first class of students will not soon forget this special evening when they were officially initiated into the Plato UMD student body. Two glamorous limousines, red carpet were the first step Plato UMD students made to get their initiation into the Plato UMD student community. Student certificates verifying their ‘official student’ status that were given to every Plato UMD student become the symbolic mark of the full transition to the Plato UMD studentship.

The Plato UMD Initiation, unlike ceremonial events at other universities, focused less on formal speeches and rituals and offered more pure entertainment for the enjoyment of students and their faculty.

“This is your day! You have proven yourselves worthy to be part of us for the rest of your lives. Today we celebrate your passage into full participation in our community. Today you witness that Plato UMD is a university community where creativity and joy frame the canvas on which your academic learning will portray itself,” remarked Nigel Browne, Director for Academic Affairs, in his address to the students.

Immediately after the last official moment was over, students and faculty were offered the final and most impressive surprise – a well-rehearsed, song, dance and humor-packed cabaret to memorize their first Initiation Ceremony at Plato UMD.
